About Chicago Architecture Center Entry Ticket

Chicago is where the skyscraper was invented, and the Chicago Architecture Center exists to explain how and why. Founded in 1966 as a nonprofit, the Center moved in 2018 to a striking riverfront home at 111 East Wacker Drive, directly where Michigan Avenue crosses the Chicago River, with glass walls that put the city’s greatest buildings in view while you learn about them.

The centrepiece is the Chicago City Model Experience, a vast three-dimensional cityscape rendering downtown Chicago in extraordinary detail. Thousands of miniature buildings are set out across the gallery, and a short film with lighting effects sweeps across the model to tell the story of how the city grew, burned, rebuilt and rose.

The Skyscraper Gallery takes the story upward, exploring Chicago’s continuing role in designing the tall buildings that have reshaped skylines around the world, with super-sized models standing alongside the real thing outside the window. The Wrigley Field exhibition gets up close to the beloved ballpark, tracing a century of championship games, legendary concerts and its lasting mark on the city.

Beyond the galleries, the CAC runs more than 75 walking tours and the acclaimed architecture river cruise, consistently ranked among the best boat tours in the country. Center admission is included with every walking and bus tour, and discounted entry is available with a river cruise ticket.

Most visitors spend around an hour to ninety minutes inside, and the Design Store on the ground floor is worth a browse on the way out.

Book through Thrillark and secure your admission at the best available rate, so you walk straight in and start exploring.
