About UWS Aquarium GAKYO Ticket
The five exhibition areas flow one into the next in an emotionally curated sequence. The Wabi-Sabi entrance area introduces the concept of Japanese wabi-sabi — the beauty in imperfection and simplicity — through natural materials including delicate driftwood, bonsai trees, and crystal arrangements housing vibrantly coloured nishikigoi carp swimming through Japanese garden landscapes as the sound of water and the fragrance of greenery create an immediately calming atmosphere. The Hanakai area transports visitors to the glamorous world of the Edo-period oiran courtesan culture — colourful, elaborate fish gliding through their tanks like beautifully dressed courtesans on procession, alongside colourful projections on traditional paper umbrellas. The Kaleidoscope area is a visual revelation — the room is lit entirely by the aquarium tanks and mirror balls, and fish of multiple colours appear to transform seven times as the light refracts and reflects across the entire space. The Yuraku area invites hands-on interaction — a virtual goldfish scooping experience using projection mapping technology and a digital omikuji fortune draw recreating the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese summer festival across displays representing the four seasons.
The centrepiece and most magnificent area is Ryugu — the Dragon Palace of the sea god Ryujin, inspired by the Ryugu-jo legend said to lie beneath the waters off Odaiba. Enormous exhibits blend water, earth, air, and fire into a harmonious and calming space filled with dozens of aquarium tanks, terrariums, lanterns, driftwood art, and water tank art — including a spectacular orb of jellyfish floating in a rushing current that visitors consistently describe as one of the most mesmerising and peaceful moments of the entire experience. Photography and video are actively encouraged throughout the aquarium — floor markings indicate the optimal photo positions in each area. Book your UWS Aquarium GAKYO ticket now on Thrillark.

Insiders' Tips
Visit on a weekday evening between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM for the most atmospheric and least crowded experience — the low-light design of each area is at its most dramatic without daytime crowds. Spend extra time in the Ryugu jellyfish section — the orb tanks and rushing current are endlessly absorbing and the floor markings in the centre of the room give the best photography position for the full scale of the installation.
