About SeaLink Ferry to Rottnest Island with Bike Hire
The SeaLink Bike and Ferry Package begins at Pier 3, Barrack Street Jetty in central Perth, where you collect your boarding pass and bike wristband from the SeaLink office before boarding the modern, fast catamaran for the scenic journey to the island. The route down the Swan River offers beautiful views of the Perth waterfront, the Narrows Bridge, and the leafy riverside suburbs before the ferry crosses the Gage Roads strait to Thompson Bay on Rottnest Island — a crossing of approximately 30 minutes where dolphins are frequently spotted alongside the vessel. On arrival, your hired bicycle and helmet are distributed by the boat crew at the Thompson Bay jetty — no queuing at a hire shop, no forms to fill out, just pick up your bike and ride.
From the settlement, 22 kilometres of well-maintained, mostly flat to gently rolling cycling paths connect every corner of the island — from the family-friendly beaches of The Basin and Geordie Bay to the stunning snorkelling bays of Little Salmon Bay and Parker Point, the dramatic limestone cliffs of the island's western end, and the historic gun batteries and underground tunnels of the Oliver Hill Defence Complex. The island's famous quokkas — small marsupials found almost exclusively on Rottnest Island — roam freely throughout the settlement and along the paths, and a close encounter is almost guaranteed for cyclists who slow down and look carefully. Return ferry options depart at 3:30 PM, 4:30 PM, or 5:30 PM, giving you maximum flexibility to stay as long as you wish before heading back to Perth. Book your SeaLink Ferry to Rottnest Island with Bike Hire now on Thrillark and save up to 16%.

Insiders' Tips
Arrive at Pier 3 at least 60 minutes before your ferry departure for check-in and boarding — the ferry will not wait for latecomers. Head anti-clockwise from the settlement as soon as you collect your bike to reach the quieter beaches on the south side of the island before the crowds build. The quokkas are most active in the shaded areas around the settlement in the early morning — slow down and look by the bushes rather than in the open.
