It's a space where children and adults can engage their senses and learn
During the day, The Artis Zoo is a place of wonder where you come across beautiful species of animals like penguins, wolves, giraffes, and more. There's also an impressive collection of art and a zoological library. At the planetarium you can go on a virtual expedition of the Solar System, taking you on an interactive journey past moons, planets and asteroids. And at night, it transforms into a unique event venue where you can enjoy colourful animations and customised 360° projections.
The Artis Zoo takes pride in making home for a variety of endangered species, including the red-faced spider monkeys, yellow-cheeked gibbons and lions.
At the ARTIS old-timey zoological library there’s around 20,000 books and manuscripts covering a wide range of topics related to natural history, there’s also an interesting collection of animal prints.The library is as old as the Zoo itself, and nearby the library there is an excellent vegetarian restaurant with a terrace overlooking the aviary. The ARTIS campus also features several historic buildings.

- You can obtain an all-day parking ticket at the ARTIS ticket office during opening hours. You can also pay the hourly rate of €6.30 at the parking payment machine in the car park

- Children 3 and below get free entry
- ARTIS grounds are for the most part, accessible to wheelchair, walker and mobility scooter users. Only the entrance to the Japanese Garden is less accessible to wheelchairs.
- Wheelchairs are available without reservation.
- Pets are not allowed
- Assistance dogs are permitted, they need to be registered at the ticket office upon presentation of a dog identification card showing that the dog has been trained
