The Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix has been the sport's original night race since 2008, and it remains the one drivers describe as the hardest weekend of the year. The Marina Bay Street Circuit is a temporary track laid over public roads — 4.94 km, 19 corners, bumpy surface, barriers close enough to punish a centimetre's error, and tropical humidity that costs drivers up to 3 kg of body weight over a race distance. 2026 is different. For the first time in its history, Singapore hosts an F1 Sprint weekend — and it's the final Sprint round of the season. That means competitive, points-scoring track action on all three days rather than one. Friday brings Free Practice 1 and Sprint Qualifying. Saturday brings the Sprint race and Grand Prix Qualifying. Sunday is the Grand Prix itself, under lights.
Off the track it's a festival on the scale of a major music event. More than 170 hours of live performance across 10 stages and themed precincts, from the neon street-market Garage to the colonial bungalows of the Waterside to the cyberpunk arcade at Downtown. Insiders' Tips
Book as early as you possibly can — several categories sell out months ahead and remaining inventory in 2026 is critically low. Decide between Grandstand and Walkabout before you shop: a seat gives you one guaranteed view, a Walkabout gives you the whole festival but means standing all night. Take the MRT, since road closures across Marina Bay make driving genuinely impractical for days around the event. Pack for tropical rain and heat — October is inter-monsoon, sudden downpours are normal, and a poncho beats an umbrella because umbrellas are restricted. Stay after the chequered flag each night for the walk, which is free with your ticket and the closest you'll get to standing on an F1 circuit.
