I bet you have seen glimpses of an iconic building that somewhat resembles a gigantic steel eye when you scan travel magazines or videos of the extravaganza of Dubai. Well, that structure has a name, and it is known as The Museum of Future. It is considered as the pride of Dubai because nowhere else can you see such an architectural wonder that has been brought to life in such a flawless manner. The structure is not just for show because it is a fully functioning futuristic museum, which resembles some of the sci-fi movie scenes. If you are ever in Dubai, do not miss the chance to visit this iconic masterpiece.
A Little Bit About The Living Museum
Yeah, the Museum of the Future is also sometimes known as the Living Museum, among other wonderful names it has earned over the course of time. The structure is so stunning that it is considered to be the most beautiful museum in the whole world. What adds to its beauty is that it is located on the biggest highway in Dubai, which is the Sheikh Zayed Road. It was the brainchild of the Dubai Future Foundation, and it ponders the question of how science and technology could possibly change society in the next few decades.
The engraving of Arabic poems in this torus-shaped building makes it something otherworldly. Do you know what it is that has been engraved into the building walls? It is actually a poem about the future, which was written by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Vice President and also the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. The people who built this ultra-complex structure were Killa Design and Buro Happold built it. As far as its green grade goes, the building got the LEED Platinum approval on February 3, 2023.
The building’s outside has windows that look like Arabic quotes that Dubai’s ruler said about the future of the city. The Dubai Museum of the Future has three lines from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Vice President and also the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. These are the three quotes (not the exact version):
- “We won’t live for hundreds of years, but when it comes to the results of our creativity, it can leave a legacy even long after we are gone.”
- The future will belong to people who can think of, plan, and build it. The next thing won’t wait. Today, we can plan and build the future.
“The secret of the rejuvenation of life, the development of civilization as a whole, and the progress of humanity is in one word: innovation.”
Top 7 Things You Can Do At The Future Museum
Appreciating the architectural beauty of the museum in itself is something you can do the whole day at the MOFT, but there is actually a ton of fun stuff you can explore there. This list serves as a mini guide:
1. Future Heroes
Who, indeed, are the heroes of the future? The kids, of course! The Museum of the Future has a whole floor called Future Heroes that is just for kids younger than ten years old. This place is designed to be both fun and educational, so kids can do interactive tasks, play with their hands, and take on challenges that give them rewards. Kids can make their own characters as part of the Future Heroes show, which encourages them to work together and be creative.
2. Tomorrow, Today
Although there are tons of problems we face today, some are more dangerous and more imminent. How about a glimpse of the possible solutions to the same? By showing cutting-edge technology and new ideas, the Tomorrow, Today exhibit hopes to find answers to the most important problems facing the world right now. This floor also shows how the museum works with its strategic partners because it’s a place where global vision ideas can grow and be tested.
3. Al Waha
In this heavily technology-based world where we spend all day and all night in front of screens, getting some time to reconnect with ourselves is beyond important. But what is Al Waha? The Arabic word for “the oasis” is “Al Waha.” This is the third part of a visitor’s trip through the Museum of the Future. To get in touch with their feelings more deeply, guests can try out different treatments on this floor. Al Waha tells people to stay steady and focus on themselves.
4. The HEAL Institute
We only have one earth and its current inhabitants; our responsibility is to take care of it. People can learn about ecosystems and wildlife in the future at the HEAL Institute, which is an exhibit where you guys can focus on fixing, healing, and renewing life on Earth.
5. Orbital Space Station (OSS) Hope
How awesome would it be if you got a chance to see how life in space would be in 2071! You get this very opportunity at the OSS Hope in the Museum. It also shows us how these technologies can solve the problems we face today as a civilization.
6. Dubai Future Forum
The Dubai Future Foundation puts on the Dubai Future Forum every year at the Museum of the Future. The forum’s job is to help people talk about the chances and problems that lie ahead for improving cooperation between the government, businesses, and the public. Because top futurists, government officials, and experts are going to be at the event, the groups and live discussions give people a chance to think about, plan for, and adapt to a world that is always changing. “Future of government, technology, environment, space, and society” were the issues of the first Dubai Future Forum, which was held in October 2022.
7. Dubai Metaverse Assembly
