The museum treasures notes and coins from pre-Islamic civilisation to the contemporary Arab period. The museum also explores the intricate journey through currency production, and visitors can also find detailed explanations of the various security features incorporated in the country’s banknotes.

Adorned with a beautiful garden, the museum is home to miniature replicas of ancient city structures such as Jaddah. The museum comprises eight huge halls, namely the origins of life, the pre-Islamic era, the journey of Islam, the life of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), the emergence of the nation of Saudi Arabia, Mecca, and Medina, and the splendour of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque.

Housed in the sandstone building of King Saud University, the Antiquities Museum features a significant collection of ancient artefacts from these archaeological sites. Excavated between the 1970s and 2004, the relics refer to the early Islamic civilisation. Their exhibits include bronze kets, sculptors, statues, graves, and frescoes dating from 1–9 AD that showcase the daily life of the Arabic community in Saudi Arabia. The museum also features 873 coins donated by Prince Sultan bin Addul Aziziz, spanning from Romam to Ayyubid times. Entry to the museum is free.
